Looted Imperial Knight Teaser

I'm BACK!  Semester is over!  I will be posting my Looted Imperial Knight soon.  The first time my Orks ever came across a Knight it was none other than Gerantius the Green Knight.  My Green Tide managed to destroy the walker but not before it krumped my Stompa.  So I decided that my Looted Knight would be a looted version of Gerantius.

I will be back soon.  Thanks for checking it out.

2016/2017 Hobby Season To Do List

The 2016/2017 Hobby Season is here!  I was very pleased with my results from last season.  I managed to achieve the majority of  my painting goals, however, modeling took a backseat for most of the year.  Here is what I will be working on for this season:'

2015/2016 Hobby Challenge results

I am a few days behind, but I wanted to go over the progress I made during the last Hobby season.  Dave Weston of 40k Addict puts forth a hobby season challenge every year to help motivate our community to paint.  If you want to check out some amazing Tyranids and Dark Angels, go visit his page!  Last August I laid out my hobby goals for the year and I made some progress.  Walk with me down memory lane.

Ork list building for ITC 1850 and Something about T-Shirts

Hello!  The Mad Mek has been hard at work coming up with a new list for competitive ITC play for Orks.  *DISCLAIMER* I am not the best 40k player.  That being said, I have been trying to step up my game quite a bit.  Currently I have been working on a list that pushes the auxiliary slots from the new Orkurion to the max.  The glue?  Deffkoptas!

ITC Tournament with Orks at 1500 Points

Hello everyone!  I recently had a chance to play in a tournament at a new game store here in town.  The Sex Panther's 40k ITC June Event was the inaugural 40k tournament for Military Gamer Supply and they plan on doing more in the future.  Of course I brought Orks.  I took a variation of my list from LVO mainly so I wouldn't need to commit to painting any new units.  I had already finished a Trukk squad and two more Trukks since LVO so I had those ready to go as well.  On to the carnage!  WAAGH!!!
Team Sex Panther.  60% of the time, they win all of the time.

Return of the Tiki Kan!

Hello!  Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone.  I am throwing up a quick update before work.  I finished a Trukk sized squad so far this month and I also had an itch to finish the Tiki Kanz that I needed to paint.  Not the best photos, but I am in a hurry.

40k Terrain

Hello!  I have been slowly working on a Trukk Boy squad but I keep getting distracted.  My plan is to knock out the core choices from the new "Orkurion" style detachment.  I plan on having 66 boyz, 9 Nobz, a Mek, 7 Trukks, and a Warboss (I already have enough grots done).  In addition to the grots, I have 3 painted Trukks a unit of Trukk boyz with a Nob.  I have a ton of eBay boyz that need to be touched up so that was my plan.  Then I split the Renegades box...

3rd party Hobby Progress

Greetings!  Sorry that it has been a while since I last posted.  #reasons  I have been working on a few projects this past month and I am actually surprised how much I got done.  I am a little disorganized as of late, bouncing from project to project, but I always say "All progress is progress."  Over on the 1 Hour a Night group on Facebook I committed to doing 10 old style Stormboyz for the month, but it was hard since I ended up with so many goodies that I couldn't stay away from.

Fluff for the Fluff God 2

The folks over at Variance Hammer recently had their Feast of Fluff contest.  It was a contest that was all about custom fluff for your army.  I decided to enter with a story about Mad Mek Screwbitz and while I didn't win, I still had a blast writing it.  Here is is:

TableWar display tray

Hello everyone!  After enjoying Spring Break I came back to all sorts of exams and projects that have limited my hobby time tremendously.  I did manage to finish my TableWar display tray for the 1 Hour A Night challenge.  I have a lot of projects in the works coming up and I hope to keep up since I don't have any pressing school work to do.  I have committed to complete a squad of Stormboyz this month, but I am not really sure why I decided to do them other than the box was taking up space.  They are the older metal/plastic kit that I got in a trade a while back.  Now that you are caught up, let's check out the TableWar tray!

Close Combat Deff Dread finished.

Hello, readers!  I must say that I really maximized my time during spring break.  It was busy at work, but I painted a lot so I could get ahead for the month.  I managed to finish the Deff Dread and I am happy with how he came out.  Here he is:  DA BARBUR!

Oi!  I'm gonna take a lil' bit off da top!

Close Combat Deff Dread

Welcome back!  I have been busy with work and school as usual, but I am now on spring break so I have been catching up on some hobby progress.  I am a part of the 1 Hour A Night group on Facebook to help me keep my hobby goals organized.  My commitment for this month is a project that I had in the back of my mind for a while, a Close Combat Deff Dread.  I had a few bits that I had picked up from a pal and decided to slap them on.
Mad Mek Screwbitz did some serious looting on this one.

Hello everybody!  I have been pretty busy with school and work but I have managed to finish up a Dakka-jet that I had converted a while back.  I love looting things!

LVO recap!

Hello all!  I am back from the Las Vegas Open and boy did I have a great time!  I played in the GT after much persuasion from my buddies and I didn't come in last!  Mission accomplished.  I ended up going 2-4 and I was lucky to have some amazing opponents.  Here is a recap of my trip:

LVO Big Mek Stompa Orks - TO DONE!

With less than a week before I head to the Las Vegas Open, I finished painting my army.  1850 points of Orks are now ready to do battle.  I rushed a few of the things, but it is easily tabletop quality so I won't worry about it.  I plan on adding some rust to the Stompa but other than that I don't thing that I will pick up a paint brush this next week (or maybe I will work on some objective markers...)
WAAAGH!!

LVO Progress Update - Big Mek Stompa Orks

I am so far behind!  I have managed to finish a few things, but I still have a long way to go for this to be painted.  I have found myself cutting a few corners but I am not sure it will be enough.  I have been working on new bases since I am running out of Agrellan Earth.  I have decided to add some flag stones mixed in to the cracked earth.  I finished the 10 Tankbustas and 10 of the Grots.  I needed to do eleven Grots so I forgot one while I was batch coating the base colors.  Photo Dump Ahead.
This is my Tankhammer.

2015 Hobby Year in Review

Hello Friends!  This New Year's Eve, as I await to wake up my wife for the countdown, I decided to do a little bit of reflection on the past year in the Hobby.  I have now been involved with 40k for almost two years (in March)!  Time sure does fly.  I have learned a bunch from this wonderful community of bloggers and fellow hobbyists and I know that I still have a long way to ggo to get to the level that I want.

Get ready for some nostalgia as we look back at The Mad Mek's 2015! (Cue Flashback Music)
Close enough to Friday...

Grots! Grots! Grots!

Hello again!  Welcome to the Shop.  As you may know, I have been painting like a madman trying to get my army ready for LVO in February.  The latest addition to the WAAAGH! is a unit of twelve Grots plus two Grot oilers to go with Big Mek Buzzgob.  Well, this is embarrassing.  I seem to have skipped basing Grot number twelve and the Runtherder.  So here is eleven Grots and some Grot oilers!

LVO 2016 Big Mek Stompa (Buzzgob - TO DONE!)

From the shadows...
Hello, Friends!  Recently the ITC (Independent Tournament Circuit) ran their quarterly vote to change/update some rules.  Reece over at Frontline Gaming really tries to have a 40k tournament scene that is dictated by the players.  The majority of this last vote had to deal with the new Tau Coordinated Fire rules, but one of the other issues was whether or not to allow Big Mek Buzzgob's custom Big Mek Stompa for the discounted points cost from the Dredd Mob rules.  Surprisingly, or not, the vote passed in favor of the discount Stompa.  What this means for me is that I need to change my planned list.  It seems silly to not take one of the most powerful tools available to Orks to the highly competitive Las Vegas Open.  The Big Mek Stompa has all sorts of tools available to it, the most impressive being the D6 power fields akin to a Void Shield Generator.  Combined with an amazing 12 hull points, this version of the Stompa is very resilient and hard to deal with.
The biggest issue for me, is that now I have to change my paint focus to allow for these new toys.  My list has changed from the Tankbusta heavy Bike Star list to something else.  I am still running bikes but now I need to add in Buzzgob and his Stompa which requires some hefty conversions and painting.

Mad Dok Grotsnik TO DONE!

MOAR LVO PROGRESS!!!!!!!

The most badass of badass Badasses, Mad Dok Grotsnik is a killing machine.  I run this guy in a Trukk with 4 Meganobz for some super fearless, rampage, feel no pain fun.  This close combat unit is super killey and very fun to play.  Most things will not survive more than one round of combat with these guys, but Mad Dok is the glue that holds this together.
