Zhadsnark Da Rippa Scratchbuild TO DONE!

I have been lucky this past week.  I had a chance to play two games of Warhammer 40k and I have another one planned for Sunday!  I have been using the Bike list that I am taking to LVO so I can get as much practice in as I can.  I played a one-sided game against 'Nids (My Favor!) and a one-sided game against Tau (His Favor, Doh!).  Tau is a rough match up because of the ability to ignore cover that my bikes rely on and the low AP.  I got to see that new Tidewall so that was pretty cool.  I am gearing up for some Tau myself after I finish my LVO commitments.

One thing that I realized when I busted out the Orks for my first game in almost two months was that I am way behind on my painting for LVO.  February is just around the corner!  Halloween has gone and Thanksgiving (here in the States at least) is coming up fast.  I only have five weeks left of the semester at School!  I need to kick it up into high gear.
Well...crap.  That's a lot!

Painting Warhammer 40k Orks in 7th Edition 40k Battle Report style. WAAGH! (or; how to leverage keywords).

It sure has been a while.  Sorry to be gone so long.  Thanks for checking in on me.  So. What's new? Me? Well, Uhhhhh.... Hmmm....  Oh!  I have been working, slowly, on my May commitment for the Independent Characters Hobby Progress Challenge.  I almost forgot what it was it has been so long.

2.5 because I base coated that guy a while back.

Getting back into the swing of things.

A big thank you to everyone who commented on my last post.  It has been a very unreal experience for me but I feel like I have been getting back into a "normal" rhythm.  I have been slowly keeping up with my IC's Hobby Progress Challenge commitment, which is the Dakka Pod for the month of April.  Other than that...

Life Marches On

Hello, everyone.  It has been a while since my last post, and I feel kinda bad about it. #realworldproblems.  These last few weeks have been very hard for me.  On April 1st, my Father passed away.  He was in the hospital for CHF about a week prior to that and things went rapidly out of control.  During his last hospital stay, he was to be placed in Hospice care, but that didn't work out.

2014: Hobby year in review

Hello Friends!  A new year has begun and I was inspired a bit by fettFace over on Back on the Battlewagon to do a review of my blog over the past year.  I also wanted to take a peak at where I stand on my 2014/2015 Hobby goals and decide if I want to scrap anything or add anything.  Time to break out the Way Back Machine and take a look at the Mad Mek's year!

From the Ashes... Dakkajet! (or maybe a Blitza-Bommer)

A few months ago, my Dad and I collaborated on a scratch built Dakkajet.

This project was really fun, but there were a few problems.  One, the model was way too big. Two, the model was way to heavy for the base.  These flaws led to the incident.  When my buddy Big M. and I were moving the gaming table, Dad's Dakkjet tumbled onto the floor and broke.  I was pretty bummed when it happened, but adversity breeds triumph.

Thanks Marc!  I love it!

Check out some awesome painting and fabulous conversions at Old School Gaming!  Some really cool things with Photoshop and minis.

Off we go ...

I finished 3 exams over the last few days and quite a bit of homework.  My schedule also changed at work so it has been a hectic couple of weeks.  I did manage to get a little bit of hobby time in as a reward to passing all of my exams.  One of my favorite things in the codex are Dakkajets so I decided to build me another one!  I started with this:

And turned it into:

Hobby Progress Part Deux

Another post with almost no progress to speak of.  This has been a pretty frustrating time for Da Mad Mek.  The medication I have been on has the strange side-effect of making me not want to do anything other than sleep.  I did start to make some trays to carry my painted boyz out of some scrap foam but I have made zero progress on my list.

I felt like I need a bit of an extra push to get me out of my prescription induced malaise.  How lucky for me that a blog I follow is coming up on the end of its hobby season.

Blogs Without Borders 3

Being new to the hobby scene, I find blogs with a lot of great tutorial and WIP content to be extremely valuable.  One of my favorites comes from the War Teacher.  Check it out!

Deff Dread

I recently took apart an old computer from the year 2000 and found all sorts of shiny bits to add to my collection.  Tons of shiny doo-dads and whatchamacallits just ripe for making killy stuff.  Plenty of projects are going to come from this but I decided to start with a Deff Dread.  Da Mad Mek Screwbitz is my Warboss so I wanted to benefit from his troop choice.

So many bits....

Kit Bash!

The Mad Mek is back with a tasty kit bash today.  To help me get into the game my good friend J. gave me a wonderful piece to work with:

Kustom Looted Wagon (WIP)

Welcome back to the Workshop!  I have been pretty busy working on a few projects as well as learning how to paint.  Practice makes perfect and boy do I need some practice.  However, the Mek's Waaagh is building momentum and soon I should have a decent sized army.

Last time I told you how I traded the Eldar Codex for a Chaos Rhino and the AoBR Warboss (pro painted).  I had never built a real model before (even as a kid!) and I was excited for the challenge.  It started by following the instructions until I had the base of the Rhino in tact and then I started to Kustomize!

Da beginnin'

Like many of you who happen to stumble upon this blog, I am a gamer. I try not to pigeonhole myself into any category; video games, pen and paper RPG's, CCG's, board games, whatever. If it has rules and a way to win I'm down to try it.  Also, like many of you, I have had a difficult time trying to pick one hobby to focus on.  Obviously, games are expensive and unless you fancy eating bread sandwiches for dinner and reading your rules by candle-light you have to make choices on which hobby to go all-in on.  That is why I have stuck with my favorite hobby for many, many years acquiring an impressive collection that rivals some hobby/game stores.  I have been completely devoted to Magic the Gathering and I don't plan to stop.
