LVO 2016 Big Mek Stompa (Buzzgob - TO DONE!)

From the shadows...
Hello, Friends!  Recently the ITC (Independent Tournament Circuit) ran their quarterly vote to change/update some rules.  Reece over at Frontline Gaming really tries to have a 40k tournament scene that is dictated by the players.  The majority of this last vote had to deal with the new Tau Coordinated Fire rules, but one of the other issues was whether or not to allow Big Mek Buzzgob's custom Big Mek Stompa for the discounted points cost from the Dredd Mob rules.  Surprisingly, or not, the vote passed in favor of the discount Stompa.  What this means for me is that I need to change my planned list.  It seems silly to not take one of the most powerful tools available to Orks to the highly competitive Las Vegas Open.  The Big Mek Stompa has all sorts of tools available to it, the most impressive being the D6 power fields akin to a Void Shield Generator.  Combined with an amazing 12 hull points, this version of the Stompa is very resilient and hard to deal with.
The biggest issue for me, is that now I have to change my paint focus to allow for these new toys.  My list has changed from the Tankbusta heavy Bike Star list to something else.  I am still running bikes but now I need to add in Buzzgob and his Stompa which requires some hefty conversions and painting.

I started with a Nob body and added the Big Mek head from the Meganobz kit.  The Big Choppa is from the Warbikers kit.  I created the servo arms from a piece of a Deffkopta that I had leftover from the Zhadsnark build combined with some Robogear bitz.  The drill is off of a Killa Kan and the Klaw is from the Meganobz kit.

The next step was creating a different base than what I am used to.  I saw a post from Spikeybits that had an easy stone block tutorial using plasticard.  I used the basic premise and changed the color scheme to fit into the abandoned mining moon, wasteland theme that I have been using with my army.
Ushabti Bone followed by a heavy application of Agrax Eathshade.  Then I used P3's Beast Hide to his the edges and the gaps.  I followed this with a dry brushing of white mixed with Ushabti Bone, then added a second wash of Agrax.  I used the Agrellan Earth on the part with no stone.

I am pretty happy with how he came out considering I am quickly running out of time.  I also started working on the weapon options for the Big Mek Stompa.  I need an Eye of Gork, a Lifta Droppa, belly gun, and a Mega Klaw.  I am lucky to have an extra Stompa that was missing its face and an arm.  I was planning on converting it to a Big Mek Stompa anyhow.
Eye of Gork!

Deff Kannon!

Lifta-Droppa!
I just need to build the Klaw and maybe some power field generators on the back.  The it is an updated paint job to fit my theme.  Lots of work ahead!

I kind of want to see if I can fit some Lootas in this list but I am having a hard time.  I did get a chance to play against KDK this past week with my new list and got a win playing ITC mission #5.  I face off against that Demon Engine Formation that had a bunch of Soul Grinders and a Brass Scorpion.  My Bike Star managed to kill the Scorpion and that really turned the tide in my favor.  The Stompa was great, the Lifta Droppa destroying Soul Grinders and I rolled really good on my Stomp table.  I really need more practice with it though.  Any feedback is welcome!  Don't forget to follow my blog as well.

    1. Thanks, Frank. I went a little back and forth about it and decided that bigger would be better. Glad you agree
